A newly identified Battlefield 6 beta bug is frustrating players by subtly breaking their aim after certain sliding actions. The issue stems from a flaw in the game’s bloom mechanic, and according to recent findings, it has been present throughout the entire open beta.
How the Bug Works
Bloom—also called weapon spread or reticle bloom—is a core mechanic in many shooters. Rather than having bullets always land exactly on target, bloom adds randomness within a cone around the crosshair. This system discourages spray-and-pray firing, helps with balancing, and adds realism. The Battlefield franchise has long featured bloom in various forms, and Battlefield 6 continues the tradition.
However, an animation bug in the beta has been discovered to cause “persistent slide bloom.” This means that after a slide is interrupted, the game mistakenly leaves players stuck in a bloom-heavy state—even when standing still. The bug effectively reduces accuracy without any clear visual indicator, making it especially difficult for players to detect.
Discovery of the Sliding Bug
The issue was first spotted by popular streamer Shroud, and later investigated by YouTuber TheXclusiveAce via Insider Gaming. His testing confirmed that canceled sliding animations can leave players permanently stuck in this impaired aim state until corrected.
Battlefield 6 doesn’t feature a traditional slide cancel mechanic like in recent Call of Duty games. Still, interrupted slides occur often due to uneven terrain, environmental collisions, or even jumping to cancel movement—a technique many beta players use to dodge bullets. Unfortunately, these interruptions are what trigger the bug.
How to Fix It (For Now)
According to testing, the persistent bloom effect can be reset by performing a full uninterrupted slide, which restores normal aiming mechanics. Until DICE issues an official fix, this seems to be the only workaround available.
What This Means for Battlefield 6
Since aiming is at the heart of any first-person shooter, the sliding aim bug has raised major concerns within the Battlefield community. With the beta set to end soon, it appears unlikely the issue will be patched before then. Fans now hope that DICE and EA will address the bug before Battlefield 6’s full release to avoid a rocky launch experience.
