According to a new rumor, Ubisoft’s 2023 release Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora could soon be getting a Director’s Cut edition. Developed by Massive Entertainment—the studio behind Star Wars Outlaws—the game is a first-person open-world adventure set during the same timeline as Avatar: The Way of Water.

In the game, players assume the role of a customizable Na’vi, one of the last survivors of the Sarentu tribe. After escaping the oppressive RDA forces, the protagonist embarks on a journey to reconnect with their heritage and protect Pandora’s precious resources from human exploitation.
Despite Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora receiving mixed reviews at launch in late 2023, the game performed well commercially. It was even ranked among the Xbox Store’s top 20 games of 2024. Ubisoft has supported the game with two story-driven DLC packs: The Sky Breaker and Secrets of the Spires. These expansions introduced fresh threats and new regions, such as the Spires of the Clouded Forest, adding depth to the game’s lore and gameplay.
This week, insider Tom Henderson reported that Ubisoft might be planning a Director’s Cut edition for one of its recent AAA titles. The gaming community quickly speculated that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is the likely candidate. Henderson appeared to confirm these guesses, suggesting the release could coincide with the launch of the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash later this year.
If true, this Director’s Cut could offer enhanced content, polished graphics, and possibly new story elements, making it the definitive version of the game for fans eager to explore Pandora even deeper.
Stay tuned for official announcements as more details emerge.
