Global game company HoYoverse is reportedly preparing a massive investment in artificial intelligence technology as part of its long-term strategy for the gaming industry. According to reports circulating from sources within China’s tech and gaming sector, the company may invest up to $14.6 billion USD over the next three years to strengthen its internal AI development infrastructure.
The information reportedly came from a private technology and recruitment session where HoYoverse co-founder Liu Wei discussed the company’s long-term vision regarding AI-powered game development.
Unlike many companies that rely heavily on third-party AI services, HoYoverse is said to be building its own complete AI ecosystem internally. The initiative reportedly includes large-scale GPU clusters, proprietary AI training systems, and custom-built application architectures specifically designed for game production.
The company allegedly plans to use these technologies across multiple areas of development, not only for content creation but also for gameplay systems and live-service operations. AI could reportedly be utilized for more responsive NPC behavior, automated development support, procedural content generation, and dynamic in-game systems capable of reacting to player actions in real time.
One of the projects rumored to benefit from this technology is Petit Planet, HoYoverse’s upcoming life simulation game. The title is expected to feature AI-powered NPCs designed to interact with players in more natural and adaptive ways compared to traditional scripted systems.
The move signals that HoYoverse may be preparing to push much deeper into AI-driven game production rather than simply using AI as a supporting tool. Instead, the company appears interested in integrating AI into the entire internal production pipeline for future projects.
The reports have already sparked mixed reactions among gamers and industry observers.
