The indie game Needy Streamer Overload (aka Needy Girl Overdose) is being adapted into a TV anime, set to premiere in April 2026. The studio behind the animation is Yostar Pictures, with Masaoki Nakajima on board as director. The game’s original creator, nyalra, is credited for the concept, script, and series supervision.

But things are complicated: nyalra claims that he was sidelined by the publisher, WSS Playground, and removed from promotional and managerial duties of the anime. He also says he has not been fully paid for his work, even though he reportedly wrote all 13 scripts for the first season.
Moreover, nyalra revealed that during this period he was diagnosed with adjustment disorder and depression, but continued working despite the mental health challenges.
On the other hand, WSS Playground denies nyalra’s version of events. They argue that his statement contains “many factual inaccuracies,” and claim that payments have been made properly.
Even with the turmoil, nyalra expressed gratitude for the team: he praised the anime staff for doing their best to realize his vision. He also announced that he’s already working on a new project alongside some former collaborators.

This situation raises some tough questions about creators’ rights in the industry — especially for indie developers. Fans will likely watch the upcoming anime not just for the story, but also to see how this controversy might play out.
