YouTuber and lawyer Law By Mike announcing lawsuit plans against Roblox over child safety issues

YouTuber and real-life lawyer Law By Mike has announced plans to sue Roblox over its alleged failure to adequately protect children on the platform. Controversy is nothing new for Roblox, but recent weeks have brought heightened scrutiny as lawsuits, petitions, and public outcry continue to mount against the company.

Growing Pressure on Roblox

The past few months have been difficult for Roblox Corporation. More than 120,000 people signed a petition demanding the removal of CEO David Baszucki, and in mid-August the State of Louisiana filed a lawsuit against the company, accusing it of failing to safeguard underage users. Despite these challenges, Roblox continues to maintain strong player numbers, though the wave of criticism shows no signs of slowing.

Law By Mike and Schlep Team Up

On September 1, 2025, Law By Mike uploaded a YouTube video confirming he was working with the legal team of fellow creator Schlep to take legal action against Roblox. While Schlep has not filed a lawsuit yet, the two are raising awareness about the platform’s alleged safety shortcomings, suggesting that formal litigation is imminent.

Their concerns echo long-standing accusations that Roblox’s moderation tools are insufficient, making it possible for criminals to contact and exploit minors. Law By Mike also referenced past incidents, including the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl linked to Roblox interactions, and urged anyone with similar experiences to contact his firm.

Roblox Responds

Facing rising legal threats, Roblox Corporation has defended its record, insisting that recent criticism does not reflect its genuine commitment to child safety. Following the Louisiana lawsuit, the company highlighted the release of 40 new tools in the past year, including stronger chat filters, enhanced parental controls, and messaging limits for under-13 accounts.

Additionally, Roblox recently announced updates to its adult content policies, including raising age requirements for restricted content and limiting underage visibility of mature experiences. Still, Law By Mike and others argue that Roblox’s safeguards remain inadequate compared to the risks minors face.

What’s Next?

It remains uncertain how the legal challenges will unfold. For now, Roblox continues to thrive with millions of daily users, but the growing number of lawsuits and investigations could bring lasting changes to the platform’s moderation standards—and possibly the wider gaming industry.
