Capcom Confirms Pragmata Is Not a Mega Man Game

September 2, 2025
Capcom producer Naoto Oyama confirms Pragmata is not a secret Mega Man game

A producer at Capcom has officially denied the popular fan theory that Pragmata is secretly a new Mega Man title. While fans recently received a fresh trailer and an updated 2026 release window, much of the sci-fi action-adventure’s story remains shrouded in mystery—leaving speculation to fill the gaps.

The game’s development hasn’t been smooth. After two major delays and long stretches of silence, Capcom’s marketing push has picked up in 2025. However, the lack of concrete details has fueled rumors connecting Pragmata to other Capcom series, with Mega Man being the most talked-about.

In an interview with Video Games Chronicle, producer Naoto Oyama chuckled at the Mega Man theory before firmly denying it. “Pragmata is a completely new game,” he stated, emphasizing that any similarities are coincidental or playful Easter eggs. That also rules out speculation linking the game’s zombie-like enemies to Resident Evil.

The Mega Man theory had some visual fuel: Pragmata takes place on the moon, pits players against corrupted robot enemies, and introduces Diana, a humanoid android in a distinctly blue design. While these elements echo Mega Man’s aesthetic, Capcom has been clear—Pragmata is its own original IP.

Oyama did acknowledge his connection to the blue bomber’s legacy, having produced the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. He said he was “happy to see Mega Man fans take an interest in Pragmata,” even if the crossover doesn’t exist in-game.

Capcom has promised more details soon, with Tokyo Game Show 2025 set to feature Pragmata prominently on September 24. Fans eager to see how the mysterious third-person adventure unfolds will want to tune in.
