Tanigo Biography: The Man Behind hololive’s Global Rise: Motoaki Tanigo

In June 2016, Founder and CEO of COVER Corp, Motoaki Tanigo — also known as “YAGOO” — founded the company in 2016 to pursue further innovations in AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) technologies. Tanigo found success with the Japanese company Imagineer through the creation of video game characters for the likes of Sanrio. Following that success, he decided to use these acquired talents and skills to create COVER Corp as we know it today.
Other previous positions held before the founding of COVER Corp include his tenure as CEO for 30mins. Inc. where he worked for over six years. This provided ample experience when it came to the creation of COVER Corp and how it would navigate and innovate on AR and VR in an already booming industry.
Taking a healthy amount of inspiration from “virtual idols” such as Hatsune Miku and following a successful “two-way livestreaming” tech demo, hololive hit the ground running in September 2017 and hasn’t stopped since.
Since then, hololive has been at the forefront of VTuber innovation and growth, with Tanigo fostering an environment that has allowed talent to grow and flourish under the talent agency. Through continual technical improvements with livestreaming software and motion capture technology, hololive talents have been able to perform at massive venues from around the world or participate in international collaborations with some of the biggest brands to date.
Never one to forget about the essentials of human connection in a digital age, Tanigo has spoken with journalists from around the world to discuss hololive’s expansion into the games industry and online social experiences.
As COVER Corp. and hololive continue to expand its reach and enter the entertainment space as a mainstream name, Tanigo has remained at the forefront of this effort.
The overwhelming enthusiasm from hololive Indonesia fans has made this first offline concert even more historic. The event will feature all 9 talents from hololive Indonesia’s three generations: Ayunda Risu, Moona Hoshinova, Airani Iofifteen, Kureiji Ollie, Anya Melfissa, Pavolia Reine, Vestia Zeta, Kaela Kovalskia, and Kobo Kanaeru, sharing one vibrant stage on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at ICE BSD Hall 6, South Tangerang, as part of Comic Frontier 21. As of now, hololive Indonesia’s members collectively boast over 10.7 million YouTube subscribers.
