A resale shop in La Puente, California, is pleading for the public’s help after four masked suspects allegedly stole approximately $30,000 worth of Labubu dolls in an early morning heist. The incident took place on August 6 at around 1:30 AM Pacific Time, when the suspects broke into One Stop Sales and targeted only the rare Nordic myth-inspired collectibles.

Security camera footage posted to the store’s Instagram shows the suspects — believed to be four males — wearing masks and hooded sweaters to hide their identities as they ransacked the store. Notably, the thieves ignored all other merchandise, making off exclusively with Labubu figures.

What Are Labubu Dolls?

Labubu was created in 2015 by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung as part of The Monsters series, inspired by elf-like beings from Nordic mythology. Since 2019, China-based Pop Mart has produced Labubu figures, and their popularity surged in 2024 after Blackpink’s Lisa was spotted with a Labubu keychain.

The collectible line has since collaborated with brands and franchises like One Piece and Coca-Cola. While most Labubu dolls retail for around $30 on sites like Amazon, the booming resale market has driven some prices into the hundreds — making them a lucrative target for thieves.

Investigation Ongoing

Store owner Joanna Avendano confirmed that some stolen items were recovered two days later, but the majority remain missing. As of this writing, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the robbery, and no arrests have been made.

Given the rising value of Labubu dolls and the growth of the collectible toy market, shop owners are being urged to strengthen security measures to prevent similar thefts. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact them immediately.
