Blizzard is giving Overwatch 2 players an early chance to try out its newest Support hero, Wuyang, before he officially joins the roster later this month. On August 8, Blizzard reminded fans that Wuyang will be playable during a special Hero Trial running August 14–18. This limited-time event lets players test the waters with the hero’s abilities and playstyle before his full release in Season 18, which launches Tuesday, August 26.
Who Is Wuyang?
Wuyang, Overwatch 2’s 44th hero, is a Support character hailing from China. He is a student at the Water College of Wuxing University, and was first teased under the codename “Aqua” during Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 spotlight video in February 2025. Wuyang’s kit blends healing, battlefield control, and fluid movement—designed to bring a unique rhythm to team support roles.
Busy Month for Overwatch 2
The announcement comes during a packed August for Overwatch 2. On August 5, Blizzard revealed a crossover with Nerf, introducing six weapon skins inspired by the iconic toy line, a Legendary skin for Cassidy, and the Nerf or Nothin’ limited-time deathmatch mode.
This mode, which runs until August 18, excludes Support heroes such as Mercy and heavily reduces cooldowns by 80% for a fast-paced, chaotic experience. Unfortunately, Wuyang won’t be part of the Nerf crossover, but his trial starts just as that event wraps up.
