Fans sign online petition to save canceled Hytale RPG game

Disappointed by the sudden cancellation of the highly anticipated sandbox RPG Hytale, fans are taking matters into their own hands. A petition on Change.org has been steadily gaining traction, urging developer Hypixel Studios and publisher Riot Games to release any playable build of the game to the public.

As of now, the petition has gathered 1,582 signatures and counting, marking a clear outcry from a fanbase that’s been waiting since 2018, when Hytale was first unveiled. The game, developed by a team of successful Minecraft modders, drew widespread attention for its procedurally generated worlds, blocky visuals, and robust custom content creation tools.

Unlike Minecraft, Hytale was set to focus more on roleplaying elements rather than pure survival gameplay—something fans found refreshing and long overdue. Unfortunately, the dream was cut short earlier this week when Hypixel officially announced the cancellation of Hytale, along with the slow winding down of its studio operations.

The petition specifically tags Riot Games, Hypixel Studios, and Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme, requesting transparency and ideally, the release of any playable build of the game, whether in early access, beta, or open-source form.

“Please consider open-sourcing any playable build of Hytale,” the petition reads. “This game had so much potential, and the community deserves to experience even a glimpse of what could have been.”

So far, neither Riot Games nor Hypixel representatives have issued any public response.

🔥 A Community Refusing to Give Up

The surge in petition signatures shows that fans are not ready to let go. The Hytale community is sharing the petition across social media under hashtags like #SaveHytale and #HytalePetition, demanding answers, closure, or even the chance to preserve the game in its current state.

In an era where canceled projects are often lost to time, this movement reflects a growing trend of player-driven preservation and advocacy. Whether or not the petition will change the outcome remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Hytale left a mark — even if it never officially launched.
