Krafton Responds to InZOI’s Falling Player Count

Krafton addresses concerns about InZOI’s declining Steam player count

The buzz around InZOI, Krafton’s highly anticipated life simulation game, may have cooled down on Steam, but the publisher isn’t worried. Despite a significant drop in concurrent player numbers, Krafton insists the game is performing well—and that the real success lies in its sales and long-term potential.

Released in late March, InZOI launched into Early Access and made an immediate impact, surpassing one million sales within its first week. The title gained traction quickly, positioning itself as the first serious challenger to The Sims franchise. Boasting hyperrealistic visuals, deep character customization, and a fresh approach to life sim mechanics, InZOI captivated fans and generated massive initial interest.

However, as April progressed, SteamCharts data revealed a notable decline in engagement. The game’s peak concurrent users plummeted from over 87,000 to around 9,000 in just a few days. Its 24-hour peak recently hovered around 1,477, sparking concern across gaming communities and forums.

In response to these numbers, Krafton offered reassurance during a recent interview with IGN. The publisher emphasized that Steam concurrents aren’t the most accurate way to measure a single-player game’s success.

“Sales are a better indicator of performance because it’s a single-player game,” a Krafton spokesperson explained. “Early Access is only the beginning of InZOI’s journey, and in many ways our work is just starting.”

Krafton added that the primary focus during Early Access is on collecting player feedback and improving the core experience. This includes:

  • Performance optimization

  • New gameplay features

  • Deeper customization tools

  • A more immersive world experience

The publisher remains confident that upcoming updates will bring players back. “We are listening, and we are building something that will evolve over time,” they noted.

While the decline in active players may raise eyebrows, it’s not unusual for single-player titles to experience steep dips post-launch. What matters now is how Krafton follows through on its promises.

With a passionate fanbase and strong early sales, InZOI’s future may still be bright, even if its player numbers don’t currently reflect that. Only time—and updates—will tell.
