A new isekai anime titled The One Within the Villainess is officially scheduled to receive a TV anime adaptation in 2027. The series is based on the work by Makiburo, with illustrations by Murasaki Mai, and has gained attention for its darker twist on the popular villainess genre.
The story follows a modern girl named Emi, who suddenly finds herself reincarnated inside an otome game as the villainess character Remilia. In many otome stories, the villainess is destined to lose to the heroine, and Emi quickly realizes she has been placed in exactly that kind of situation.
Within the game’s story, Remilia is eventually framed by the supposed heroine Rina. As accusations and manipulations pile up against her, Emi becomes overwhelmed by the harsh reality of her new life. The pressure pushes her to the brink, and she eventually suffers a mental breakdown.
At that critical moment, something unexpected happens. The original Remilia, a cold and calculating personality that once belonged to the body, suddenly awakens again.
Unlike Emi, who was confused and emotionally fragile in this world, the real Remilia is far more ruthless and intelligent. Once she regains control of her body, she immediately begins planning revenge against everyone who betrayed them.
This premise gives the story a unique twist compared to many villainess isekai series. Instead of trying to avoid a tragic fate or win the affection of other characters, Remilia embraces her role and begins executing a carefully calculated revenge.
For the anime adaptation, Miyuki Sawashiro will voice Remilia, bringing her powerful and commanding presence to the character. Meanwhile, Rie Takahashi will voice Emi, highlighting the contrast between the two personalities sharing the same body.
The animation will be produced by ROLL2, which will handle the adaptation of the series’ intense and dramatic storyline.
With its darker narrative, complex protagonist, and unique take on the villainess isekai genre, The One Within the Villainess is expected to become one of the most intriguing anime releases when it premieres in 2027.
