Thanks to Castle Pixel and Playtonic Friends for the opportunity to try the Cattle Country demo. Here is a brief review based on one hour of gameplay.

Strengths and Weaknesses in the Demo

Cattle Country presents a fresh and interesting theme. However, some areas need improvement to enhance the overall gaming experience.

1. Lack of Background Music

Certain parts of the game feel lifeless due to the absence of background music, especially in:

  • Opening Scene
  • Town
  • Our Own Field
  • Every Place need a Specific BGM

I hope the full release will include richer background music to improve the game’s atmosphere.

2. Lack of Tutorial Information

The tutorial system in the demo is not informative enough, particularly regarding keybinds or game controls. There is no clear guide for:

  • E or R to switch inventory
  • Left Click for interaction
  • ESC to open the menu
  • W,A,S,D or Arrow for move

Hopefully, the full game will display keybind settings for both mouse + keyboard and controller users.

3. Issues When Interacting with Vendors

When shopping, the arrow keys and click + drag functions do not work, leaving only mouse scrolling as an option. Fixing this UI issue will significantly enhance player convenience.

4. Large Map Without Fast Travel

The map in Cattle Country is quite vast, but there is no fast travel feature. I suggest that developers add a call horse system to allow players to move around more quickly. This would make world exploration much more efficient.

Additional Suggestions

One feature that could enhance the gameplay is keeping NPC preferences hidden. By doing so, players would be encouraged to discover what each NPC likes or dislikes through interaction, making the game feel more engaging and rewarding.

Conclusion

Cattle Country has great potential as a fun simulation game. With improvements to background music, tutorials, interaction systems, and the addition of a fast travel feature, the full release could offer an even better experience.

Let’s look forward to the future of Cattle Country! Stay tuned with us for another updates.
