The anime adaptation of The Moon on a Rainy Night (Amayo no Tsuki) has unveiled its first preview, giving fans their first look at the upcoming Girls Love series. The anime is officially scheduled to premiere in 2027, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
The series is being produced by CompTown and will combine elements of drama, school life, and Girls Love. Based on the original manga, the story focuses on an unexpected relationship that gradually develops between two high school girls with very different personalities.
The protagonist, Saki, is rushing to her piano lesson when she accidentally bumps into a tall and beautiful girl she does not recognize. Without saying a word, the mysterious girl picks up Saki’s scattered sheet music and returns it to her, along with a bandage for the injury she received during the accident.
Saki soon discovers that the girl is actually her new classmate, Kanon. She also learns that Kanon is deaf and has difficulty communicating with those around her. Despite Kanon’s seemingly distant personality, Saki gradually becomes interested in getting closer to her.
Rather than giving up because of their communication difficulties, Saki begins looking for ways to understand Kanon and slowly build a stronger connection. Their relationship develops through everyday school experiences as Saki attempts to break through Kanon’s emotional barriers.
The story places considerable emphasis on communication, emotional distance, and the process of building trust between two people. This gives The Moon on a Rainy Night a more character-focused approach, with its romance developing gradually through the protagonists’ interactions.
The newly released preview offers the first glimpse at how the anime will bring the manga’s characters and atmosphere to life. With CompTown handling the animation production, fans can now look forward to seeing more footage and information ahead of the series’ 2027 debut.
At this time, the production team has not revealed the exact premiere date or additional broadcasting details. More information about the cast, staff, and release schedule is expected to be announced at a later date.
With its combination of Girls Love, drama, and school-life elements, The Moon on a Rainy Night is shaping up to be one of the notable romance anime projects scheduled for 2027.
