Exciting news for dark fantasy fans! Tougen Anki, the action-packed manga by Yura Urushibara, is officially getting an anime adaptation under the title Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood. The anime is set to premiere on July 11, 2025, and expectations are already high.
The adaptation is being handled by Studio Hibari, with Pony Canyon—best known for its work on the legendary Attack on Titan—joining the production committee.
A Tale of Cursed Blood and Ancient Rivalries
The story follows Ichinose Shiki, a rebellious teenager who has no idea he carries the blood of the Oni—demonic beings locked in a centuries-old conflict with the noble clan of Momotarou. Raised by his adoptive father, Tsuyoshi Ichinose, Shiki’s true identity has been hidden from him his whole life.
When a Momotarou agent confronts Shiki, his dormant Oni powers awaken in a violent burst, throwing him into a supernatural world filled with ancient grudges, hidden institutions, and uncontrollable power.
Rakshasa Academy – Where Demons Are Taught to Be Human
Shiki’s chaotic transformation catches the attention of Naito Mudano, a teacher at Rakshasa Academy—a secretive school designed to help young Oni learn to control their powers and coexist with humans.
Reluctantly enrolled, Shiki must now face the truth about who he is and battle the monstrous instincts within him if he ever hopes to uncover the mystery behind his heritage and avenge his fallen father.
