The highly anticipated psychological horror game Silent Hill f has officially been banned in Australia after receiving a Refused Classification label from the Australian Classification Board. While not an outright ban by name, this decision banned the game from release or sale in Australia, as games without classification cannot legally be sold, advertised, or imported in the country.

What Does Refused Classification Mean?

In Australia, Refused Classification (RC) means that a game cannot be made available to the public. According to the official listing (source), Silent Hill f was denied a rating, effectively halting its Australian release.

Other countries have given the game a Mature or 18+ rating due to its intense content, but Australia’s classification system is stricter. The Classification Board has not disclosed the exact reason for the refusal. However, Konami previously warned that Silent Hill f includes themes of torture and child abuse, which likely influenced the board’s decision.

Fans React to the Ban

Australian fans have expressed frustration, arguing that adults should be able to choose what media they consume. This is not the first time Australia has refused classification for a game, but the decision still sparked debate about censorship and mature content in gaming.

Is There Hope for Release?

Konami has not commented on whether it plans to appeal the decision or create an altered version of the game for the Australian market. Meanwhile, Silent Hill f is still on track for global release in other countries.

The ban has only fueled more interest in the game, as fans worldwide eagerly await the next entry in the iconic Silent Hill series.
