Shift Up, the acclaimed developer behind the 2024 hit Stellar Blade, has officially revealed its next game, Project Spirits, on its website, generating excitement among fans and industry watchers alike. Coming off the tremendous success of Stellar Blade, which sold over a million copies within two months and received critical acclaim, Shift Up is poised to further cement its reputation as one of Asia’s leading studios.
After releasing Stellar Blade as a former PlayStation exclusive, the studio continued supporting the game with free updates and skins, keeping players engaged well after launch. In May 2025, Shift Up announced the much-anticipated PC port, with a release date set for June 11, coinciding with the Complete Edition launch for both PC and PS5.
Alongside this, Shift Up dropped new information about Project Spirits—previously known as Project Witches—on its official site. The studio describes Project Spirits as a “subcultural” game that pushes the boundaries of “Eastern Fantasy.” As a flagship title and a fresh intellectual property following Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke, the game promises to deliver a narrative-driven, open-world RPG experience with martial arts influences.
A single teaser image offers a glimpse of two characters, one wielding a sheathed sword, set against a backdrop of traditional Korean houses, hinting at the game’s cultural inspiration. Job listings related to the project reveal an emphasis on storytelling, exploration, and RPG mechanics, and mention a target audience familiar with games like Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, and Nikke — suggesting a blend of genres and gameplay styles.
Shift Up’s Project Spirits represents an ambitious next step for the studio, with fans eagerly awaiting further details on what promises to be an innovative addition to the Eastern fantasy gaming landscape.
