Niantic has officially announced that Rookidee will be the featured Pokémon for Pokémon GO’s August 2025 Community Day, scheduled for Saturday, August 30, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time. The announcement is part of the ongoing Delightful Days season, which has been packed with dynamic events, new features, and player-driven content.
This event marks a major moment for the Gen 8 Flying-type, which only made its debut in Pokémon GO earlier this year.
Why Rookidee?
Although Galar Pokémon began appearing in Pokémon GO in 2020, Rookidee was a late addition, only joining the roster in January 2025. The fan-favorite Pokémon quickly became a hit thanks to its final evolution, Corviknight, known in the main series for its Gigantamax form.
Interest in Rookidee spiked again after its Dynamax debut during Max Monday in late May, as part of the Might and Mastery season. That popularity carried over into a community poll on June 7, where fans were given 24 hours to vote for the next Community Day headliner. Rookidee won decisively, garnering 77% of the votes, beating out Frillish, Wimpod, and Lechonk.
