Capcom has officially responded to a wave of cheating reports during the recent Challenge Quest event in Monster Hunter Wilds, confirming that players who exploited the system will face account restrictions or bans.
The event in question, Doshaguma of the Hollow, launched on April 3 and tasked hunters with defeating a wild Doshaguma in record time. However, suspicions arose when certain clear times appeared unrealistically fast—leading to an official investigation by the development team.
According to a community note on Steam, the developers will “take appropriate measures” to preserve a fair experience in Monster Hunter Wilds’ competitive Challenge Quests. Players found to be cheating will not only be disqualified from leaderboard rankings but could also face temporary restrictions or permanent bans.
No Rewards Yet—Capcom Needs Time to Investigate
Legitimate players who completed the quest fairly shouldn’t expect to receive their rewards immediately. Capcom announced that rewards will be distributed within one to two weeks, pending the removal of fraudulent entries and adjusted rankings. Final results will be shared via the game’s official Twitter account.
Additionally, Capcom clarified that going forward, players won’t need to be ranked on the leaderboard to earn event rewards—a change aimed at leveling the playing field and reducing the incentive to cheat.
Commitment to Fair Play Moving Forward
This isn’t Capcom’s first move against dishonest gameplay. The development team had already begun enforcing penalties against cheaters and reaffirmed its intent to continue cracking down on such behavior throughout the game’s ongoing and upcoming events.
With over a dozen Challenge Quests scheduled through early May, players can expect a cleaner, more competitive environment. For those climbing the leaderboard the honest way, Capcom’s strict stance on integrity is welcome news.
