The Jujutsu Kaisen spinoff manga Modulo has officially been confirmed to end with Chapter 25, which will be released this week. The series was always intended to be a short-term project, and its conclusion aligns with the original plan for a limited serialization.
The story is written by Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, while the artwork is handled by Yuji Iwasaki, best known for illustrating Cipher Academy. The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump and was designed to run for roughly six months, ultimately covering about three collected volumes.
A Future Set Decades After Jujutsu Kaisen
Modulo takes place in the year 2086, approximately 68 years after the events of the original series. The story introduces a new generation of characters while maintaining connections to the original cast.
The narrative centers on Yuka Okkotsu and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, two important figures from the main Jujutsu Kaisen storyline. In this futuristic setting, humanity faces a completely different kind of threat—an extraterrestrial species known as the Simurians.
Humanity vs. the Simurians
A massive group of around 50,000 Simurians, aliens with mysterious energy-based abilities, arrives on Earth. Their presence quickly creates global tension, forcing humanity into complex negotiations while also preparing for the possibility of war.
As the situation escalates, Yuka and Tsurugi become deeply involved in the unfolding crisis. The story mixes action with political and diplomatic drama, featuring kidnappings, international conflicts, and the looming threat of a large-scale interspecies war.
Although the series is relatively short compared to the main Jujutsu Kaisen story, Modulo expands the universe with a bold sci-fi setting and introduces a new generation of characters facing challenges very different from traditional cursed spirits.
With Chapter 25 marking its conclusion, Modulo wraps up its brief but ambitious journey in the pages of Weekly Shōnen Jump, offering fans a glimpse into the far future of the Jujutsu Kaisen universe.
