As the official release of Elden Ring: Nightreign approaches on May 30, 2025, developer FromSoftware has issued an important warning for PC players. The studio confirmed that users with newer graphics cards may experience unexpected framerate drops and performance issues while playing the game.

In the day-one patch notes for Elden Ring Nightreign, FromSoftware acknowledged these performance problems and offered temporary workarounds. Players encountering issues are advised to reduce graphical settings from “High” to “Medium” or “Low,” lower the screen resolution, and ensure their GPU drivers are fully updated. The developer is actively investigating the root cause to deliver a permanent fix as soon as possible.

Importantly, these issues appear isolated to PC users and have not been reported by console players. FromSoftware has not specified exactly which graphics cards are affected but confirmed the problem mainly affects recent GPU models.

Elden Ring Nightreign serves as a standalone prequel to the 2022 Game of the Year, set in an alternative universe focused on multiplayer gameplay. Groups of up to three players can explore the dangerous Lands Between together, facing challenging bosses and unlocking new lore.

Director Junya Ishizaki shared that the concept for Nightreign dates back to the development of Dark Souls 3, with the goal of creating a large multiplayer world filled with tough challenges.

For PC players preparing to dive into the Lands Between, FromSoftware’s transparency provides useful guidance. Gamers should monitor updates closely and adjust settings as recommended to enjoy smoother gameplay while awaiting a permanent solution.

Stay tuned for further announcements from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco as the launch date nears.
