Freddy Krueger Dominates as DBD’s Deadliest Killer in Early 2025

April 24, 2025

Dead by Daylight (DBD) is a massively popular asymmetrical horror game that pits one killer against four survivors. Each killer draws inspiration from horror franchises, including Stranger Things, Resident Evil, Hellraiser, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. It continues to captivate players with its strategic gameplay and immersive, eerie atmosphere.

Behaviour Interactive has pulled back the curtain on the chilling stats from the first quarter of 2025, and one name rises above the rest—The Nightmare, better known as Freddy Krueger, is officially DBD’s deadliest killer so far this year.

In the latest data drop, spanning January through March 2025, Behaviour revealed that Freddy Krueger achieved a terrifying 69% kill rate across both low and high MMR brackets. Despite his nightmarish effectiveness, Freddy didn’t even crack the top 10 most-picked killers—making his kill stats even more haunting.

📊 Killer Stats Breakdown: January–March 2025

  • 🥇 The Nightmare (Freddy Krueger)

    • Kill Rate: 69%

    • Pick Rate: Outside Top 10

    • Performance: Top in both MMR brackets

  • 🔥 Other High Performers:

    • The Lich – Featured in both MMR brackets

    • The Twins – Strong kill pressure

    • The Blight – High pick and kill rates

    • The Nurse – Consistent with elite players

  • 🎯 Most Picked Killers:

    • The Mastermind (Albert Wesker)

    • The Blight

Despite his low pick rate, Freddy’s rework (see Behaviour’s update here) clearly paid off, refining his Dream World and snare mechanics to deadly efficiency.

🔮 What’s Next?

Behaviour Interactive confirmed that new data will be released again in July 2025, keeping the community informed and the meta fresh. Fans are eagerly watching to see if Freddy will continue his dominance as DBD’s Deadliest Killer—or if another killer will rise through the ranks in.

While flashy killers often get the spotlight, The Nightmare proves that effectiveness doesn’t always equal popularity. Whether you’re a stats geek or a horror fan, this update gives killer mains plenty to consider before jumping back into the fog.
