Fortnite has moved up the end time of its already brief Star Wars-themed season, catching many players off guard. When Chapter 6 Season 2 ended, fans anticipated the next season would follow immediately. Instead, Epic Games shifted gears, offering a mini-season crossover with the Star Wars universe—a surprise that thrilled many but is now ending sooner than expected.
A Galaxy Not So Far Away
Known as Galactic Battle, the Star Wars-themed season has been a dramatic shift from the norm. Traditional weapons were vaulted, replaced entirely by lightsabers and Star Wars blasters. With these new weapons overheating instead of requiring ammo, Fortnite made the bold move of removing ammo and ammo boxes entirely—a first in the game’s history.
This gameplay overhaul invited players to rethink their looting strategies, combat pacing, and mobility. It was an exciting shakeup, especially given the season’s May launch in celebration of May the 4th.
Season Cut Even Shorter
Originally scheduled to last about a month—roughly one-third of a normal Fortnite season—the Star Wars event has now been shortened by 12 hours. While that might not seem like much, the change significantly affects players who were planning to play on the final day.
Downtime will now begin on June 7 at 2 PM ET, rather than the morning of June 8 as previously expected.

Many players had assumed they could use all of June 7 to complete any remaining quests or unlock final cosmetics. The shift means a lost evening of gameplay, especially for those in different time zones or with limited play schedules.
Though the Fortnite Star Wars season end time change may seem minor on paper, it has left many fans scrambling to wrap up their in-game progress. If you haven’t yet claimed all your Galactic Battle rewards, make sure to log in before 2 PM ET on June 7—because the galaxy won’t wait.
