Crunchyroll’s Top Tier Now Matches Netflix Standard Price After Subscription Increase

Crunchyroll has officially raised its subscription prices, and the change has created an interesting comparison in the streaming market. After the increase, Crunchyroll’s highest subscription tier now costs $17.99 per month, the same price as the ad-free Standard plan from Netflix.

The price adjustment applies to existing subscribers whose accounts were previously locked into older rates. As billing cycles update, users will begin seeing the new monthly costs across all major tiers.

Updated Crunchyroll Monthly Pricing

Fan Tier: $7.99 → $9.99 per month

Mega Fan Tier: $11.99 → $13.99 per month

Ultimate Fan Tier: $15.99 → $17.99 per month

While the Ultimate Fan tier now matches Netflix’s Standard plan in price, the services offer very different content libraries.

Crunchyroll focuses almost entirely on anime, providing simulcasts, a large catalog of Japanese animation, and anime-related features like offline viewing and member perks depending on the tier.

In contrast, Netflix offers a much broader entertainment library, including live-action series, films, documentaries, reality shows, and a growing catalog of anime titles alongside its global original productions.

For anime fans who mainly watch Japanese animation, Crunchyroll still provides one of the largest dedicated libraries available. However, the price parity with Netflix’s ad-free Standard tier may prompt some viewers to compare overall value between specialized and general streaming platforms.

As competition among streaming services intensifies, pricing adjustments like this highlight the growing costs of content licensing, production partnerships, and maintaining large digital catalogs for global audiences.
