Swedish developer Arrowhead Game Studios, known for the hit Helldivers 2, has confirmed plans to fully self-fund its next game, currently codenamed “Game 6.” While the studio’s immediate focus remains on supporting Helldivers 2, this exciting announcement offers a glimpse into Arrowhead’s vision for the future.
Since its release in February 2024, Helldivers 2 quickly became a massive success, driven by its polished gunplay, cooperative gameplay, and witty meta-narrative set against the backdrop of the Galactic War. In a recent chat with fans on the official Helldivers Discord, CEO Shams Jorjani revealed that Game 6 is still in early concept stages. Development will not ramp up until later in 2025, and only a small dedicated team will initially work on the project to allow the majority of the studio to continue focusing on Helldivers 2.
The decision to fully self-fund Game 6 means Arrowhead retains complete creative and publishing control, marking a strategic move towards independence and innovation. This approach could allow the studio to experiment freely and cater directly to its player community without external constraints.
