Behind the meteoric rise of Ado lies a deeply personal and painful family conflict. In her autobiography, the singer shares the emotional struggles she faced at home while her career was taking off. As her breakout song Usseewa became a massive hit, tensions with her father began to surface in ways that would ultimately change their relationship forever.
According to Ado’s account, her father wanted her to reveal her real identity publicly so that he could be recognized as “Ado’s father.” After Usseewa achieved widespread success, he reportedly began attributing her accomplishments to himself. He frequently claimed that her musical talent was the result of his guidance and upbringing, even going so far as to say, “I’m the one who created Ado.”
What initially began as comments made at home gradually extended into public settings. He allegedly boasted about his daughter’s fame to relatives, coworkers, and even his regular bartender. At one point, he created a Twitter account and openly identified himself as Ado’s father. That moment became a turning point for the singer, who realized she needed to take a firm stance to protect herself.
Calm but resolute, Ado asked her father to stop revealing her private identity, explaining that such actions could create serious complications—not only for her, but also for Chigira and the professional team working behind the scenes to support her career. When her father argued that he was simply stating a fact, Ado drew a clear boundary. Biologically, he was her father, she acknowledged, but he was not the person who had raised her or taken responsibility for her present life.
Unfortunately, he refused to understand her position. Even when Ado informed him of her graduation from school, his reaction centered on the praise he received from coworkers for being “Ado’s father.” Rumors eventually reached journalists, intensifying the pressure and emotional strain.
Feeling pushed to her limit, Ado made the difficult decision to leave home. As her father departed from her new apartment that night, she quietly whispered, “Goodbye.” With the sound of the closing door, she closed a painful chapter of her life. Though the decision was heartbreaking, it allowed her to protect her identity, her dreams, and her future—finally granting her a sense of peace she had long been denied.
