Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed a new collaboration between Overwatch 2 and the popular Japanese music duo YOASOBI.
The special event is scheduled to launch on June 30 and will feature an original song, a new short story, themed character skins, and an animated music video created specifically for the collaboration.
One of the highlights is a short story titled The Fall of a Sparrow, which focuses on the relationship between Genji, Hanzo, and Kiriko within the game’s newest Tokyo-based setting.
Inspired directly by the story, YOASOBI created an original song titled Orion, continuing the duo’s well-known approach of transforming written narratives into music.
Beyond the song and story content, the collaboration will also introduce several exclusive cosmetic items, including special skins for:
Kiriko
Genji
Hanzo
and additional heroes that will be revealed later
Adding even more excitement to the event, Blizzard confirmed that the collaboration’s animated music video is being produced by A-1 Pictures, the acclaimed anime studio known for numerous popular anime productions.
The announcement has already generated significant buzz among both anime fans and Overwatch players, as it represents one of Blizzard’s most ambitious music-focused collaborations to date.
Many fans are particularly excited to see how YOASOBI’s storytelling style will blend with Overwatch’s character-driven narrative, especially given the emotional history shared by Genji, Hanzo, and Kiriko.
With an original song, anime production involvement, exclusive cosmetics, and new lore content, the collaboration between Overwatch 2 and YOASOBI is already shaping up to be one of the game’s most anticipated crossover events of the year.
