Kong Studios Officially Reveals New RPG Project Guardian Maiden

Kong Studios has officially revealed the title of its newest RPG project, now confirmed as Guardian Maiden.

The game is being developed as a 2D pixel art RPG that embraces a strong retro atmosphere while still incorporating modern visual presentation and contemporary design direction. According to the developers, the project will focus heavily on fantasy storytelling, analog-inspired art style aesthetics, and strategic combat systems as its main selling points.

The announcement immediately drew attention from fans due to Kong Studios’ reputation as the studio behind Guardian Tales, one of the most well-known pixel-style RPGs in recent years.

Because of this connection, many players are already curious whether Guardian Maiden will inherit similar “DNA” from Guardian Tales, particularly in areas such as humor, worldbuilding, puzzle design, and emotional storytelling.

Guardian Maiden is scheduled to receive a larger public introduction during Illusta Fest 11 on May 23–24, 2026.

During the event, attendees will reportedly be able to:

watch the game’s first promotional video

visit a dedicated exhibition booth

and learn more details about the project directly from the developers

Although gameplay details remain limited for now, the retro pixel art direction has already gained positive reactions online, especially among fans who enjoy classic-style RPG presentation combined with modern production quality.

The mention of “analog art style” has also sparked curiosity, with some players speculating the game may use softer textures, hand-crafted visual elements, or nostalgic design philosophies inspired by older fantasy media.

As anticipation continues building, many fans are now waiting to see whether Guardian Maiden can become another standout RPG title from Kong Studios following the success of Guardian Tales.
