Holostars Continues: Major Changes from COVER in 2026

The VTuber industry has once again been shaken by an official announcement from COVER Corporation regarding Holostars Japan (Holostars JP). Many fans initially feared that the male VTuber group would disband. However, the company has firmly clarified that Holostars is not disbanding. Despite this reassurance, the major shift in support structure has become a key point of concern.

Starting in April 2026, Holostars JP, which currently has 12 active members, will undergo significant operational changes. COVER has decided to reduce much of its support for group-based activities. This means that while members can continue their activities, they will need to operate more independently.

Among the major changes is the removal of support for large-scale company events such as hololive festivals, joint concerts, and other major community gatherings. Additionally, official merchandise production, including birthday and anniversary goods, will no longer be provided. This marks a major shift, as merchandise has been an important revenue stream.

Furthermore, company-produced original songs will no longer be supported. Members will also lose access to COVER’s studio facilities, including 3D production resources that were previously used for special content. Large-scale collaboration projects managed directly by the company will also be discontinued.

As a result, the focus of Holostars JP will shift toward individual activities. Members can still stream, create content, and collaborate independently. However, without large-scale promotional and production support, they will need to rely more on their own creativity and consistency.

According to COVER, this decision was made as part of a long-term business strategy. After nearly seven years since its debut in 2019, Holostars’ overall performance has not matched the success of female VTubers under the hololive brand. Therefore, the company aims to optimize its resources for better sustainability.

Meanwhile, Holostars English, including TEMPUS and ARMIS, continues to operate normally. They still receive company support and actively participate in major events. However, fans remain cautious as similar changes could potentially affect them in the future.

Community reactions have been mixed. Some fans are saddened by the reduction in group activities, while others remain supportive and committed. As of now, there have been no graduation announcements from any members.

In conclusion, Holostars is not disbanding but is entering a new, more independent phase. The future of the group will largely depend on the members’ individual efforts and the continued support from their fanbase.
