Good Smile Company and Monochrome Corporation have officially announced IGNISPHERE, a new fantasy IP designed to expand into a connected fictional universe featuring multiple nations, races, and stories. The project is being led by Takafumi Noma, the director of Unicorn Overlord, who has also established a development team called IGNISPHERE Studio.
The first game set in this new universe is DAWNGAZER, an action RPG currently in development for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The game is scheduled to launch in 2028, although a specific release date has not yet been revealed.
DAWNGAZER will serve as the first entry into the IGNISPHERE universe. Noma previously worked on Unicorn Overlord in several capacities, including programming, story development, and character design. Through IGNISPHERE, he aims to build on that approach by creating a broader fantasy setting where different stories and characters can exist within the same interconnected world.
Alongside the announcement, Monochrome Corporation and Good Smile Company released a teaser video for DAWNGAZER, marking the beginning of the game’s development. The music for the teaser and upcoming game is being composed by Yoshimi Kudo, who has previously contributed to Unicorn Overlord and Elden Ring.
The musical production also features vocal performances from KOCHO, SAK., and Maki Takimoto, while Wataru Mukai is responsible for the cello performance. These collaborations suggest that music will play an important role in establishing the atmosphere of the new fantasy setting.
IGNISPHERE is also planned to expand beyond video games. Good Smile Company will be involved in producing merchandise, including figures, while several light novel projects are reportedly being developed in collaboration with Kadokawa’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint.
More information about DAWNGAZER, IGNISPHERE’s world, and its other upcoming projects is expected to be revealed gradually. With its ambitious multimedia approach and the involvement of the creative team behind Unicorn Overlord, IGNISPHERE is shaping up as a new fantasy universe to watch ahead of DAWNGAZER’s planned 2028 release.
